A chainsaw makes it much easier to take down large invasive trees. But they represent a serious threat of injury. Bottom line: do NOT use a chainsaw unless you have received training or have experience with these tools. Make sure you wear protective gear (gloves, eyewear, long heavy pants).

• Make sure the chain is sharp and not too loose.
• Use an electric chainsaw if at all possible. They are now competitively priced and offer similar power to gas-powered saws.
